Des Moines University seeks a Librarian to assist with developing and delivering information services to support excellence in education, research, and patient care at Des Moines University. The Librarian will provide comprehensive reference and digital assistance and instructional services in the fields of medicine and the health sciences for the students, faculty, and staff. The position supports development of library collections and provides exceptional customer service. The Librarian also coordinates digital support and manages library-related technology, including library’s presence on the internal campus portal, and the integrated library system(s). As a non-tenure track faculty member, the incumbent is responsible for demonstrating teaching, service and scholarly work.

 Founded in 1898 in Iowa’s capital city, DMU is a graduate medicine and health sciences university comprising three colleges – College of Osteopathic Medicine, College of Podiatric Medicine and Surgery, and College of Health Sciences – that offer eight graduate degree programs. DMU combines the top advantages in medical education: expert faculty, a rigorous and relevant curriculum, a dynamic and diverse research environment and a supportive, inclusive community of students and faculty active in learning and service. In addition, the University will relocate to a new campus in West Des Moines, tentatively in 2023, that will serve as an innovative model for medical and health sciences education for the nation and beyond.

Qualifications include:

  • Master’s degree in Library and Information Science from an American Library Association-accredited institution is required.
  • Experience with integrated library system(s), library administrative platform(s), and awareness about new/emerging trends in library technologies.
