The Department of History at Kalamazoo College invites applications for a full-time Visiting Assistant Professor position for one year—September 2021 through June 2022. The position involves teaching six courses (2-2-2 across three, ten-week terms) in African History, including Introduction to African Studies, Civilizations of Africa, Contemporary Africa, and three upper-level elective courses chosen or designed in consultation with the department. Field and period of specialization is open, but position is responsible for most African Studies courses and will need to offer a variety of classes. Ph.D. (or evidence of imminent completion) required. Prior teaching experience is desirable. Candidates must demonstrate an interest in undergraduate teaching.
