Job Description

This position will assist one major sponsored research project in plant breeding and genetics. Principle duties will include conduct laboratory and field experiments, collect and analyze various data (molecular markers and quality and quantitative traits). The individual will also be responsible for assisting project meetings with all collaborator and advisory panel, preparation of research reports, publications in peer-reviewed journals and proposal writings for various funding agencies. The incumbent will also be expected to communicate with project collaborators on-campus and at other institutions including field visits. Will work in concert with program Principal Investigator to coordinate and supervise graduate and undergraduate students working on various related projects. The Postdoctoral Associate in this position is supervised and evaluated by the Principal Investigator, Dr. Bo Zhang.

Required Qualifications

Ph.D. in Plant breeding and genetics (molecular biology) or in a related plant sciences discipline, course work in quantitative genetics, crop genomics and plant pathology. Experience with gene transformation and genome editing techniques. Experience in soybean or vegetable research and involvement in conducting field experiments.

PhD must be awarded no more than four years prior to the effective date of appointment with a minimum of one year eligibility remaining.

Preferred Qualifications

Prior research publications and proposals, involvement in collaborative research projects and participation in training and supervision of undergraduate students are desirable.
