The Department of Microbiology and Immunology at the University of Maryland School of Medicine is recruiting for Assistant Professor (None-Tenure track) with a focus on bacterial and with expertise in host/vector/pathogen interface .

Appointment rank will be commensurate with academic accomplishments and experience and candidate should be able to begin June 1, 2021 . The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to NIH-funded ongoing research projects, as well as develop their own research program over time, and additionally will provide supervision to staff and fellows within the laboratory. Specific areas of research interest in vector biology and medically relevant bacterial pathogen(s), such as obligate intracellular bacteria (e.g., Rickettsia) , is highly desirable. The successful applicant should have prior work experience in immunology, innate immune cell biology (e.g., macrophages, dendritic cell, etc.), cell receptor signaling, immune cell defense response mechanisms (e.g., autophagy and inflammasomes) or related topics.

Qualifications :

Applicants must have a Ph.D. and/or M.D. degree in molecular biology , genetics or immunology. We welcome candidates with at least 3-4 years of postdoctoral experience and have a strong c ommitment to excellence in teaching at the medical and graduate student level .
