Position Overview:

Note: Adjunct positions at UCO are part-time teaching positions. This posting is to create a pool of interested applicants from which the Department may draw as sections become open at any point in the current academic year. This posting may or may not result in the hiring of adjuncts. Adjunct Faculty provides a quality learning experience for students on a semester basis. Adjunct faculty reports to a dean or chair and performs instruction-related duties and responsibilities in a timely manner and in accordance with the mission, policies and procedures of the college. The relationship of the adjunct faculty member to the student is one of teacher and facilitator of learning.

College/Department Overview:

The College of Business has 76 full-time faculty and 40 part-time faculty in 6 academic departments: Accounting, Economics, Finance, Information Systems & Operations Management, Management, and Marketing. The College currently offers 13 undergraduate majors serving more than 2,500 students, and 2 graduate programs serving more than 100 students combined. Department Specific Essential Job Functions:

University of Central Oklahoma, Dept. of Accounting, invites applications for adjunct positions to teach introduction to principles of accounting, cost, individual taxation, business entity taxation, auditing, ethics, financial accounting and other related accounting courses.

A masters degree in Accounting or MBA, with a CPA and current senior level or higher accounting experience or a doctorate in Accounting is required. A JD with professional tax practice will be considered for tax positions. Teaching experience is preferred. Online teaching experience may also be preferred for certain classes. Other specific experience in the accounting related to the teaching area may be required. Specialized certifications and licenses are required for some classes.

Qualifications

Experience Required:

Possesses at least a master's degree in the field specified in the position announcement (exceptions require Academic Affairs approval). Possesses excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

Master's degree in Accounting with an emphasis in Taxation preferred. Other master's degrees considered. Professional certification preferred. Must have either current professional experience or current academic research in accounting/taxation to be considered. Previous teaching experience preferred but not required.
