Applicants are invited for a Postdoctoral position at the Department of Chemistry at Virginia Commonwealth University. The appointment will start in spring or summer 2021. Prospective projects involve computational studies of dynamic dielectric responses and wetting/dewetting processes at liquid interfaces under electric and mechanical perturbations. They concern phenomena of fundamental interest and importance for energy and materials sciences. The work, funded by the National Science Foundation, requires development, refinements, and use of classical-simulation techniques including Molecular Dynamics and/or Monte Carlo methods. The successful candidate will have a PhD in Physical or Theoretical Chemistry, Physics, Chemical or Mechanical Engineering or related field, with solid background in Statistical Mechanics and experience in classical molecular simulations, good programming skills, and experience with high performance computing. Good communication skills, and demonstrable ability for independent dissemination of research achievements is also expected. The initial appointment will be made for one year and can be extended depending on performance and availability of funding.

Required Qualifications

PhD in Physical Chemistry, Chemical or Mechanical Engineering, Condensed Matter Physics, or related field.

Must be able to work in diverse work environment.

Preferred Qualifications

Strong background in Molecular Modeling and Statistical Mechanics, experience with computer programming, work station administration and literacy in supercomputing.
