The Research Technician duties will provide research, administrative, and project support; organic chemistry synthesis, statistical analysis of the results, design of experiments, characterization of porous materials via electron microscopy, laser spectroscopy, and infrared spectroscopy; including but not limited to preparation, of scientific reports detailing activities in the laboratory, analysis of research data; conducting observational studies; collaboration with other research professionals; and other duties as assigned. Technician will perform synthesis to thermally insulating materials using organic sol-gel chemistry. All activities are in accordance to VCU Research Protocols, Policy, and Procedures.

Required Qualifications

B.S. or M.S. in Physics or a closely related discipline. A minimum of 3 years experience with advanced techniques of Physical Chemistry, including laser spectroscopy. Of these 3 years, a minimum of 1 year must be industrial experience or equivalent. Strong oral presentation and communication skills required.

Preferred Qualifications

Ph.D in Physics or a closely related discipline at the time the position begins. Prior research experience is strongly preferred.
