Job Summary
The Learning Commons Assistant will oversee the general operations of the Learning Commons, including night and weekend hours, assist students with computers and related educational technology, monitor use of scheduled resources, and answer or refer library reference questions. This is a 19-hour per week position including night and weekend shifts.

Responsibilities
  • Perform related duties as assigned to support the mission of the University
  • Monitor and maintain copier/scanner/printers, troubleshooting and resolving basic problems, referring to senior staff as appropriate
  • Check equipment in and out to library patrons
  • Escalate complex questions and issues to librarians or other staff
  • Represent the Learning Commons and the Library in a positive and professional manner
  • Assist Learning Commons Librarian and other library staff in day-to-day operations of the learning commons
  • Staff Learning Commons during selected weekend and night hours
  • Answer general computer hardware and software questions
  • Assist students and faculty in the use of educational technology
  • Assist students with wireless access
  • Answer basic library information questions when senior staff is not present
  • Open or close building according to schedule
  • Maintain and monitor computer workstations, logging and reporting problems

Required Qualifications
Educational Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent

Required Experience
  • Experience using library resources and services

Proposed Salary
$11.39 per hour
