Assistant Professor of Accounting

School of Business

Central Connecticut State University invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track faculty position in the Accounting Department. The successful candidate will teach undergraduate and/or graduate courses in accounting. It is expected that the individual chosen for this position will contribute actively and effectively to student growth, service to the university and the profession, demonstrated the ability to produce quality scholarly academic research, and to be committed to multiculturalism and working with a diverse student body.

Faculty also are expected to participate in assessment, curriculum development, faculty governance, maintain their AACSB qualifications as Scholarly Academic (SA), and other faculty activities.

 Required Qualifications:

  • D. or D.B.A. from an AACSB accredited institution in accounting or a related discipline. A.B.D. candidates with a clear plan for completion by August 2022 are encouraged to apply.
  • Commitment to serving a culturally, ethnically, and linguistically diverse student body and community.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Professional experience in accounting
  • Professional accounting certification (CPA or CMA preferred)
  • Record of successful university teaching in Accounting

The Community: Located nine miles southwest of Hartford, New Britain is a city of some 70,000. Part of the Greater Hartford area of 1.2 million residents, New Britain is centrally located in the state and is within easy reach of much of Connecticut and several metropolitan areas in the region. New Britain’s population is characterized by a high degree of racial and ethnic diversity. It is the home of three Polish language newspapers and one television station, and annually hosts the Little Poland Festival. Significant portions of its population come from Puerto Rican, Italian, and Irish backgrounds.

In addition to all that Hartford provides, New Britain is 40 minutes from Springfield, Massachusetts, two hours from Boston, and two hours from New York City. It is also part of the Hartford-Springfield “Knowledge Corridor” and, therefore, within easy driving distance of a host of private and public institutions of higher education and many cultural opportunities.
