Job Summary: The Graduate School of Counseling and Psychology (GSCP) seeks to fill two full-time core faculty positions in the Mindfulness-based Transpersonal Counseling (MTC) concentration beginning May 1, 2021, or July 1, 2021. The university and program have a strong commitment to achieving diversity among faculty and staff. In addition to demonstrated capacity to teach in the specialty areas of transpersonal counseling/psychology and mindfulness-based approaches to counseling, applicants would be able to teach in some of the following core areas: social and multicultural foundations, human growth and development, counseling and helping relationships, group therapy, assessment, research and program evaluation, psychopathology, professional counseling orientation and ethical practice, practicum, and internship. Another opportunity of this appointment is teaching in the hybrid program which consists of both online and residential intensive learning components. Expertise and experience in online education are valued.

The job includes administrative duties for the MTC concentration, the Graduate School of Counseling and Psychology (GSCP) and the university, including but not limited to recruitment and admissions, networking within the field of mindfulness-based transpersonal counseling, student assessment, and active engagement in the leadership of the MTC concentration.

Qualified applicants must be able to demonstrate consistent success in negotiating the pedagogical, clinical, research, administrative, and collaborative responsibilities of a faculty appointment within the degree program, within the Graduate School of Counseling and Psychology (GSCP), and within the structure of the university at large.

Job Duties:
• Teach 20 credits each academic year (approximately 10 each semester), primarily in the Mindfulness-based Transpersonal Counseling (MTC) concentration, but potentially in other degree programs of the Graduate School of Counseling and Psychology (GSCP) as well.
• Attend and actively participate in all programmatic and school-wide meetings, as well as co-curricular events sponsored by the MTC concentration.
• In concert with the MTC leadership teams, develop and conduct plans for assessment, community building, and ongoing curriculum development.
• Actively participate in the administrative operations of the MTC program, including admissions interviews and events.
• Engage in professional development that includes pedagogical approach, mindfulness and other contemplative education, transpersonal education, and diversity/inclusivity.
• Hold regular office hours and provide support to students and prospective students as needed outside of class time, both in-person and remotely.
• Serve on and actively participate in appointed university committees.
• Understand and adhere to the policies, procedures, and protocols outlined in the Faculty and Employee Handbooks.
• Contribute to the advancement of the counseling and mindfulness-based therapy fields through professional involvement such as conference presentations, original research, and publications.
• Complete additional program and university duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:
• A doctoral degree or ABD from a graduate institution of recognized standing in counseling or a related field.
• Licensed or eligible for licensure in the State of Colorado at the professional counselor (LPC) or equivalent level.
• 3+ years of clinical experience as a counselor and a comprehensive understanding of the counseling field and those it serves, in particular in clinical mental health counseling settings.
• Demonstrated skill in recognizing and addressing issues related to privilege, oppression, diversity and inclusivity in higher education communities, especially in regards to curriculum content and classroom facilitation.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills, administrative skills, and a collaborative style.
• The capacity to teach a diverse student body, diverse therapeutic experiences, and a comprehensive understanding of transpersonal counseling/psychology and the mindfulness-based approaches to transpersonal counseling.
• Demonstrated ability to work with others in an administrative and leadership capacity.
• Ability to teach in a hybrid format (e.g., deliver class content in blended format of online classes along with intensive residentials).
• Previous experience with the literature and practices of contemplative education.
• Ability to track one's personal emotional reactivity; including an ability to recognize and articulate one's moment-to-moment relationship with compassion
• Commitment to co-create an inclusive community and actively participate in related professional development, including openness to feedback and ongoing self-examination.

Preferred Qualifications:
• A doctoral degree or ABD in Counselor Education, preferably from a CACREP-accredited program.
• Graduate degree or training pertaining to social, multicultural, and diversity topics; or at least 18 graduate credits in this area; or evidence of scholarship in the field of multiculturalism and diversity.
• Status as an Approved Clinical Supervisor (ACS) or eligible for an ACS credential.
• Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to principles of contemplative education and familiarity with the vision of Naropa University.
• Evidence of scholarly work such as professional presentations, publications, and/or a demonstrated interest in research.
• Demonstrated knowledge and experience in mindfulness studies and transpersonal psychology.
• Demonstrated record of exceptional institutional service and previous experience in leadership roles at a university or professional organization.

If applying for the rank of Associate Professor, the following qualifications are also required:
• Has achieved the rank of Associate Professor or has held a ranked faculty position for at least five years at another accredited university.
• Significant evidence of scholarly work such as professional presentations, publications, and/or a demonstrated interest in research.
• Demonstrated a record of exceptional institutional service and worked in leadership roles at a university.
