William James College endorses a framework of inclusive excellence, which recognizes that institutional excellence comes from fully engaging with diversity in all aspects of institutional activities.

Responsibilities: Core faculty members are involved in teaching, advising, and research supervision. Additionally, there is the expectation of committee work and scholarly productivity. We are seeking applicants with interest, expertise, and/or experience in Cognitive and Affective Aspects of Behavior. Qualified applicants for this position may be trained in cognitive psychology, affective neuroscience, neuropsychology, or related fields. The successful candidate may teach relevant courses (e.g., Cognitive and Affective Bases of Behavior) covering basic and experimental science in the domains of sensation/perception, object recognition, attention, memory, language, problem solving and decision making, along with emotion and affective neuroscience. The successful candidate may also teach generalist foundational courses in the Clinical Psy.D. program.

Qualifications: Candidates must possess a doctoral degree in Psychology or a related field (e.g., Cognitive Science). A demonstrated record of scholarly work defined broadly (e.g., community engagement, educational leadership, innovation, investigation and research) is preferred. Successful candidates will also have a demonstrated commitment to promoting diversity, inclusion, and multicultural competence in an educational and work environment and must be willing to contribute to the College’s strategic plan of inclusion. The department welcomes applications from individuals who may have had nontraditional career paths, or who may have taken time off for family reasons, or who have achieved excellence in careers outside of academia.

Application Procedure: Review of applications will begin upon receipt and continue until the position is filled. Interested candidates should submit:

  1. A detailed letter of intent responding to the stated qualifications.
  2. A curriculum vitae.
  3. A list of three professional references with complete contact information. (References will not be contacted without the candidate's prior permission.)

Materials should be submitted electronically to: Ms. Michelle Costa, Human Resources Coordinator at HR@williamjames.edu.
