Assistant/Associate Professor, Department of Physical Therapy (12-mo-NTT)
Samford University’s School of Health Professions invites applicants interested in serving in a Christian university environment to apply for the position of assistant/associate professor in the Department of Physical Therapy. This non-tenure-track faculty position is a 12-month appointment and will begin in August 2021. The major responsibilities of all faculty include teaching, scholarly activity, and service. Additional responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, support of: program assessment, accreditation standards and reports, curriculum development and assessment, student advising, and student mentoring.
Qualified candidates will hold a PT degree from a CAPTE-accredited program. Candidates must hold either a clinical doctorate (D.P.T.) or academic doctorate (e.g. – Ph.D., D.Sci., Ed.D.) from an institutionally accredited university. Candidates should hold current licensure, or be eligible for licensure, in Alabama as a PT. Preferred qualifications include candidates who have previous teaching experience in an accredited PT program, previous experience with clinical supervision of PT students, have prior clinical experience in the areas of: pediatrics, acute care, and/or SNF, though other areas will be considered. A commitment to academic excellence and the ability to work effectively with faculty, students and colleagues is expected.
The College of Health Sciences includes four schools: School of Health Professions, Moffett & Sanders School of Nursing, McWhorter School of Pharmacy, and School of Public Health. The College offers multiple degree programs and majors within the health sciences with an inter-professional education focus that reflects today’s team approach to health care delivery and professional practice.
