Assistant Professor of Public Administration or Public Management

Job Summary:

The Maxine Goodman Levin College of Urban Affairs invites applications for the position of Assistant Professor with a focus on public administration or public management. The preferred area of specialization is social equity and justice; change management; diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI); and/or racial, social, and economic inequality. We seek someone with the potential or ability to contribute to our national rankings in urban policy/local government management/nonprofit management and to support the university’s mission of engaged learning. The start date is August 16, 2021.

The Levin College is nationally recognized by U.S. News and World Report in urban policy (#3), local government management (#13), and nonprofit management (#20). We prepare our graduates to lead in diverse and dynamic urban environments. Located in downtown Cleveland, the Levin College is home to several graduate and undergraduate programs and the Center for Public and Nonprofit Management, which provides professional development to the regions’ public sector and nonprofit leaders. The Center is the locus of the Ohio Certified Managers Program.

Minimum Qualifications:

Ph.D. from an accredited university in public administration, public management, public policy, urban studies, political science, or a related discipline. ABD candidates will be considered with the stipulation that they will have the Ph.D. awarded by July 1, 2021. Potential for a substantial publication record. Ability to teach undergraduate and graduate courses in public administration. Commitment to student achievement and fostering a diverse student population.

Preferred Qualifications:
Potential for a substantial publication record in social equity and justice; change management; diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI); and/or racial, social, and economic inequality. Interest in engaged research and applied policy using greater Cleveland as a laboratory, focusing on housing, income equality, employment, health, education, public sector technology, or other similar topical areas. Demonstrated excellence in teaching (online and/or face-to-face), and the ability to contribute to more than one degree program (public administration, nonprofit management, urban studies, organizational leadership, economic development, and public safety management). Ability to secure external research funding.
