Economic Development Specialist

Job Description

The specialist will develop and conduct applied research and technical assistance projects and provide leadership for the unit on collaborative design and implementation of large projects. This position reports to the director of the Economic Development Office.
This position will need to travel extensively, primarily within the state of Virginia.

Required Qualifications

Master's degree in planning, public administration, business, economics or a related field.
Experience with management of applied research or technical assistance projects in a collaborative, interdisciplinary setting.
Experience with research and practice in multiple areas of technology based economic and community economic development.
Exemplary communication and analytical skills.
Demonstrated capacity as a highly organized, creative, entrepreneurial self-starter, capable of contributing to a team.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with grant writing for federal funding agencies.
Demonstrated ability to participate in collaborative teams across organizations.
