University of Maryland School of Pharmacy
Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences
Position #05-178-71
The Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences is searching for a qualified candidate for a tenure track faculty position at the level of assistant professor in the area of hydrogen-deuterium exchange mass spectrometry (HDX-MS) and computational chemistry. Research interests should be compatible with other current strategic areas of expansion including: Chemistry of Life Processes; Complex Biological Systems & Quantitative Biosciences; Clinical Translational Sciences and Experimental Therapeutics; Imaging, Modeling & Simulation; CNS Diseases and Drug Addiction. The position is a full-time, tenure-track, 12-month appointment based at the Baltimore, Maryland Campus. This position requires scholarly activity; teaching; service to the school, campus, and the profession; and the ability to engage in the application of mass spectrometry-based experimental approaches to research studies.
Qualifications :
QUALIFICATIONS
Applicants should have a Ph.D. in an appropriate discipline, and a minimum of 3 years postdoctoral experience. Experience with HDX-MS development and application with an emphasis in computational modelling is preferred. We are particularly interested in research focused on coupling molecular dynamics simulations with HDX-MS to facilitate the interpretation of HDX data for protein dynamics studies. Projects that focus on the coupling of these methods to study viral protein-host interactions are especially desired. Additional experience with complementary proteomics-based approaches in drug design is also desired.
