Women's Health Therapist - Human Performance (Division of Physical Therapy)

The Division of Physical Therapy at West Virginia University (WVU) is seeking a full-time, non-tenure track (12-month) faculty member at the Assistant Professor rank. The successful candidate will collaborate with faculty in the Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology on program development and clinical care, including urogynecology, pelvic pain, pre- and postpartum musculoskeletal issues, and other aspects of women’s health while providing direct patient care in multiple clinic locations. The candidate will also contribute to the mission of WVU and the program in Physical Therapy housed within the School of Medicine. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience of the selected candidate.

The program has been consistently accredited since 1970 and has a proud tradition of preparing excellent clinicians. For the last decade, the division has had a faculty member whose primary responsibility is to provide teaching and clinical services in the area of women’s health. The successful candidate will be expected to participate in area(s) of scholarship appropriate to areas of expertise leading to peer-reviewed publications. Active engagement in departmental, university, and professional service activities is also expected.

Qualifications :

Applicants must meet the following criteria for consideration:

• Graduate from an accredited PT Program.
• Licensed (or eligible) to practice as a physical therapist in the state of WV.
• Licensed (or eligible) to practice as a physical therapist in the state of PA.
• Clinical (DPT) or academic (PhD, EdD or equivalent) doctoral degree.
• ABPTS certification as a women’s health clinical specialist (WCS), or eligible to sit for the board.

All qualifications must be met by the time of the appointment.

Preferred qualifications are:

• Academic doctorate (PhD, EdD, or equivalent);
• Completion of an accredited residency in women’s health physical therapy;
• Demonstrated classroom/laboratory teaching experience and effectiveness;
• Expertise in clinical practice management;
• APTA clinical instructor credentials;
• Experience in the following areas: as a clinical instructor, in clinical program development, and in collaboration as part of an inter-professional team.
