Working Title: Director, Children's Learning & Care Center Official Title: Director, Child Care/M Employment Class: Limited FTE: 1.0 Compensation: $60,000 - $65,000, depending on experience and qualifications FLSA Status: Exempt Terms of Employment: 12-month annual Position Summary: The Director provides overall philosophical, policy, educational, and program direction for the CLCC. This position reports to the Executive Director for Campus Life and is part of the Division of Student Affairs to ensure that the Center is effectively interfaced with institutional and divisional missions. The Director works with other departments, outside agencies, professional organizations and individuals to meet the goals of the CLCC. The Center’s $1.5 million budget is funded by user fees and student Segregated Fees. The Director has full accountability for the budget and supervises 13 employees and approximately 60 student employee aides. Responsibilities

30% Program Development & Leadership:
• Nurture a team that fulfills the goals of Center.
• Support the University mission, the development of relationships and human potential, and values of inclusivity and diversity.
• Develop long range plans for the improvement of child care services and programming.
• Assume full responsibility for daily Center operations.
• Assume responsibility for the health and safety of the children and ensure that the center is following all state licensing requirements and accreditation standards.
• Assist the lead teaching staff in the physical, social, emotional, and cognitive growth and development of each child in the program’s care. Stay abreast of latest research on childhood development, brain development, technology, and all other areas relevant to maintaining quality programs at the Center.
• Schedule and provide planning time for teaching staff.

30% Teacher and Staff Professional Development & Supervision:
• Complete continuing education requirements as established by state regulations and maintain a record of completion.
• Maintain infant/child CPR/AED/First Aid training.
• Provide in-service training and training resources for all staff.
• Provide orientation sessions for all staff.
• Conduct staff meetings on a regular basis and document proceedings from the meetings.
• Conduct staff evaluations on at least an annual basis.
• Participate in self-evaluation to determine strengths and weaknesses in relation to established center and personal goals. Attend training opportunities or pursue resources to make necessary improvements.
• Maintain staffing levels and qualifications to meet the needs of children and families at all times. Oversee hiring and supervision of professional and student staff on an ongoing basis. Provide direction and leadership to all staff to instill a culture of continuous improvement and a positive work climate. Approve all recruiting, hiring and dismissal of teachers and student staff.
• Guide student workers in their work with the children and make appropriate suggestions for change as needed.
• Assist in the supervision of field study and clinical students, providing feedback for improvement on a regular basis and completing all necessary written assessments as required for the field study.

20% Administrative and Budget Management:
• Oversee and manage the Center’s day-to-day operation regarding attendance, billing, food service, programming and scheduling systems.
• Serve as primary fiscal coordinator for the child center. Present the annual budget to the Segregated Fee Committee and keep them informed of any major changes.
• Develop and guide long-range fiscal planning and operating budget preparation.
• Participate in budget review and accomplish budget reconciliation as needed.
• Supervise User Fee collection system.
• Ensure that all child records and enrollment forms are maintained and up-to-date.
• Create and implement work schedules for the lead teaching and student assistant staff.
• Make recommendations regarding rates based upon state regulations and current industry standards.
• Develop ongoing and long range planning for remodeling, improvements & renovations.
• Seek grant funding and fund raising opportunities as deemed appropriate.

15% Building relationships and communication:
• Develop positive working relationships with parents, teachers, volunteers, & student employees.
• Provide information to families concerning center policies, upcoming events and deadlines, and any relevant information concerning their child(ren).
• Initiate communication with families, keeping lines of daily communication with families open and effective.
• Report staff or program problems to the Executive Director for Campus Life.

5% Other duties as assigned by supervisor
Qualifications Required: 1. Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education or related field of study.
2. Experience in child care program/center management and supervision.
3. Experience in program and curricula development for early childhood programs.
4. A minimum of five years of lead teaching experience in an early childhood setting.
5. Experience with NAEYC, AdvancED NCA, or other accreditation processes.
6. Knowledge of documentation and assessment of children’s progress and successful outcomes.
7. Ability to demonstrate a strong commitment to creating an inclusive, supportive, and age-appropriate learning environment for the children at the Center.
8. Basic computer skills and a working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
9. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
10. Demonstrated commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion Preferred: 1. Master’s degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field of study.
2. Experience and/or coursework in Business, Administration, or Leadership.
3. Knowledge and experience with budget development, basic accounting, or data management.
4. Experience with Creative Curriculum, the Wisconsin Model Early Learning Standards, the Wisconsin Pyramid Model for Social and Emotional Competence, and Teaching Strategies Gold assessment tool. To Apply:
