St. Cloud State University seeks applications for a Probationary Position in the Information Systems Department of the Herberger Business School beginning Fall Semester 2021. In addition to eight undergraduate majors, the School offers an MBA and a Master of Science in Information Assurance. The successful candidate is expected to establish and maintain a professional goal to become an outstanding teacher-scholar through the use of research-based, best-practices pedagogy. They are expected to teach using both in-person and alternative delivery methods such as online and hybrid. They will regularly engage in ongoing professional development and innovation opportunities focused on pedagogical growth.

Description

The Department of Information Systems at St. Cloud State University has a full-time probationary position.

Teach undergraduate and/or graduate courses as needed and contribute to achievement of department goals which include:

  • Providing an effective learning environment for student success,
  • Developing and enhancing school curriculum and programs, learning outcomes assessment and continuous improvement,
  • Contributing to student growth and development such as student advising,
  • Continuing development of professional knowledge and skills in Information Systems and Information Assurance,
  • Serving on committees at the department, school, and university levels,
  • Assisting the school in maintaining accreditation: conducting student learning assessment, meeting ongoing research requirement, and serving on school accreditation committee as needed.

Required Qualifications

  • Ph.D. or Doctorate in Information Systems, Information Assurance, Cyber Security, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or closely related major from a nationally accredited academic program completed in a campus-based environment. ABD considered, but full degree requirements must be completed within the first year of employment.
  • Be able to teach courses in IS and IA areas that the department needs such as Enterprise Resource Planning, Data Analytics, Project Management, IT Strategy Management, Human-Computer Interaction, Enterprise Architecture, IT Security and Risk Management, Computer Forensics, Unix Operating Systems, Decision Support Systems, Client/Server Security, Database, Systems Analysis and Design, Quantum Computing, Programming, Business Statistics, and/or IT Infrastructure.
  • Evidence of teaching effectiveness or potential
  • Evidence of research activities
  • Evidence of demonstrated ability to teach and work with persons from culturally diverse backgrounds.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Information systems, information assurance, or cyber security related experience in teaching or business.
  • Publication records or potential for establishing an active research program specializing in information systems or information assurance.
  • Willingness to contribute to student growth and development.
