Denison is seeking an Assistant Director for the Office of Multicultural Student Affairs to serve as an integral team member of Diversity and Inclusion Unit within the Division of Student Development at Denison University. We seek a student-focused, energetic and highly visible individual committed to supporting highly-engaged students at a liberal arts college with nearly 2,000 residential students. Established in 1996, the Office of Multicultural Student Affairs has always been progressive in our approach to advocating the needs for equity, inclusion and belonging of traditionally underrepresented and new student populations. MCSA has an established legacy of rich campus-wide traditions supporting the development of a socially just, inclusive and culturally celebratory environment at Denison University. We design, develop and implement culturally innovative initiatives to sustain a sense of community, inclusion and student success for the benefit of all students and targeted emphasis on multicultural students. Student organization and individual support will be coordinated through social, educational and cultural programmatic efforts. The Assistant Director will exhibit a demonstrated commitment to advocacy and supporting lived experiences of diverse communities regarding racial/ethnic matters such as social justice discourse, identity-development and allyship.

Master’s Degree in Higher Education & Student Affairs, College Student Personnel, Social Work or other related field preferred (Bachelor’s degree required). Minimum of three-fives years of experience in a collegiate environment with direct student-facing programmatic responsibilities. Demonstrated experience and interest in working with highly-motivated students from diverse backgrounds and cultures. Skilled facilitator and competent in leading and training student groups. Demonstrated ability to construct programmatic learning outcomes, design programs with an inclusive excellence framework and implement assessment tools to evaluate measurable outcomes.

Excellent written and oral communication skills, the ability to form strong working/collaborative relationships with students, faculty, and staff members, and the ability to relate effectively with diverse members of the University community. Knowledge of critical race theories, identity development and belonging theories is essential. Knowledge of marketing design is a plus. Ability to manage multiple projects and initiatives at once; ability to take direction, pivot with modified priorities and exhibit self-initiative. Ability to accommodate extended work hours, including evening and weekend work hours.
