The Financial Aid Administrator will work closely with the Associate/Assistant Director of Financial Aid, under the direction of the Director, to perform and carryout the functions of the Financial Aid Office. Duties will include:
- Manages the Maryland State Grant Programs including associated reporting and reconciliation.
- Manages Federal Direct Loan programs and secondary (private) Student Loan programs including associated reporting and reconciliation.
- Attends and participates in professional groups, seminars and/or courses.
- Coordinate training of counselor level staff and student workers with assistance from the Associate/Assistant Director of Financial Aid
- Demonstrate a belief in the mission of the University by maintaining an institutional view of projects and priorities.
- Promotes a positive image of the Financial Aid Office by making presentations to inform the public about the various financial aid programs and associated application processes.
Qualifications
Qualified candidates will have a bachelor's degree and 5 years experience in a service-oriented, enrollment-centered financial aid office. Knowledge of need analysis and verification procedures, financial aid software, federal financial aid regulations, State grant guidelines, mainframe database experience, managerial aptitude, and occupational best practices within financial aid and enrollment are essential.
Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to make effective presentations before large groups of students and parents, are required. Knowledge of and sensitivity to issues related to the recruitment and retention of a diverse student body is required. The ability to collect and analyze data, converting it to information that can be communicated to other University personnel, is required. Experience with office applications software, preferably Microsoft Office products, is required. Experience with Ellucian, MDCAPS, COD, FAAcess and NSLDS is required.
