Job Summary

JCCC is searching or a diverse pool of candidates for our open Assistant Professor, Electronics position. This position will:
* Demonstrate interpersonal and communication skills that result in clear communication of Electronics Technology subject matter to the students.
* Use a variety of proven methods of engagement and assessment that facilitate student mastery of the content.
* Provide students timely, constructive, encouraging, and corrective feedback.
* Select and develop instructional materials; plan and organize instruction to enhance student learning.
* Create appropriate curriculum items that encourage student learning, the development of communication skills, and higher-order thinking.
* Use available instructional technology, as appropriate.
* Evaluate student learning by creating and applying course competencies and accurately evaluating student progress.
* Apply continuous improvement methods to improve teaching effectiveness through the application of appropriate teaching and learning strategies; utilize assessment processes to evaluate and document student learning to inform instructional delivery and curriculum content.
* Be accessible to students through e-mail, wireless/cellular technology, or scheduled office hours including arranging, when necessary, additional time for appointments.
* Maintain confidential and accurate records of students' academic standing; promptly provide final grades, attendance, and other information as required by administration.
* Work effectively with internal and external program stakeholders (such as College staff, industry advisory board, K-12 partners) to accomplish program goals.
* Attend and participate in all required meetings and exercise stewardship in the use of college facilities and materials.

Required Qualifications

-Bachelor's degree in electronics, electronics engineering technology or related field with 3 years of experience OR Associate's degree in electronics, electronics engineering technology or related field with 5 years of experience
-Written and oral communication skills

-Ability to pass a background check with a motor vehicle record search

Preferred Qualifications

-One year or more college teaching experience teaching electronics technology
-Two or more years experience as an electronic technician performing prototyping, repair, or other related work
-Demonstrated excellence in teaching in a variety of modalities (in-person, hybrid/web and online)
-Intrinsic motivation to complete complex and competing tasks within deadlines
-Ability to interact with all stakeholders (students, faculty, staff) in a consistently positive and professional manner
-Expert level ability to in constructing, troubleshooting, and maintaining electronic systems at both board and component levels
-Expert level ability in implementing embedded control systems using microcontrollers
-Expert level ability in configuring and troubleshooting electronic instrumentation including IP-based devices such as spectrum analyzers, oscilloscopes, and related equipment
-ISCET CETa or higher certification (required within six months of employment)
-Curriculum development experience (may include authoring of course packages, laboratory manuals, textbooks, and other items)
-Experience with conducting academic assessment and continuous improvement processes
-Proficiency with Microsoft Office including Access, Excel, Word, and SharePoint/One Drive
-Proficiency with TCP/IP networking and one or more instrumentation protocols (Profibus, Modbus, VXI, etc.)
-RF/wireless Communications as evidenced by FCC First Class Radiotelephone License or other documentation
-Proficiency in RF communications protocols, instrumentation, and troubleshooting
-Proficiency in microcomputer and microprocessor systems including assembly and C++ languages
-Experience with implementation of embedded control / DSP / RTOS-based systems
-Experience with PC board design using Cadence OrCAD capture and layout, or equivalent software package
-Experience with chip-scale systems implementation
