Job Summary

This is a 2-year limited term appointment funded by extramural funds. Continuation of employment is contingent upon availability of funds.

The School of Forestry & Wildlife Sciences invites applications for the position of Forestry Technician I/II/ III . This position is committed to supporting research associated with the Nanocellulose Lab at the Forest Products Development Center, School of Forestry and Wildlife Sciences ( SFWS ) at Auburn University.

Essential Functions

Assisting faculty and research assistants in on-going research efforts, actively engage in undergraduate student’s activities coordination; collection and processing of data; maintenance of lab equipment; consumables and reagents purchasing and inventory; schedule hazardous waste pickup; and participate in writing research reports, technical notes and newsletter articles for the lab website.

Level II: High School diploma or equivalent plus 1 year of relevant experience in forestry practices.
Salary Range: $22,300 – $37,200

Level III : High School diploma or equivalent plus 4 years of relevant experience in forestry practices.
Salary Range: $25,000 – $41,700

Minimum Technology Skills

Knowledge and/or skills to perform a limited variety of processes, methods and procedures associated with a limited range of scientific problems is required.

Minimum License and Certifications

Possession of a valid drivers license

Desired Qualifications

Additional education about the high school level in a related area is desirable (biomass characterization, wood testing, PCR and ELISA testing, microbiological tests, usage and maintenance of scientific equipment). Laboratory experience and personnel management is highly desired.
