Job Description:

The Revenue Cycle Analyst works regularly with department leadership, directly supports the daily operations of clinical, research, and education missions, and conducts analyses supporting business decisions for the Department of Anesthesiology division of regional community anesthesia practices. Produces actionable data to inform business decisions, clinical operations, and supports process improvement initiatives aligned with strategic goals. Creates and maintains regular analytical reports designed to monitor operations and inform regional partners of operational performance. Independently carries out projects and analyses to achieve the clinical, research, and education missions and utilizes university, college, and department business systems.

Responsibilities to include:

Create reports within Peoplesoft, Epic, Hyperion, OpenTempo Insights, and Business Objects systems to analyze historical data and identify process improvement opportunities. Completes forecasting models for new initiatives, identifying areas of opportunity for the department and the community anesthesia practices. Maintain routine reports and identify methods to optimize efficiency. Process data and develop analytical tools and dashboards to facilitate leadership decision making. Integrate data across multiple platforms through Excel and Tableau Prep to create efficient workflows for processing data. Generate data visualizations to provide context for the audience to narrate data patterns. Evaluate and recommend modifications to current operations to improve patient management and business operations across all stakeholders, including the community anesthesia practices, surgical departments, pre-surgical clinic, OR operations, and regional clinics. Design, develop, and conduct operational assessments that provide actionable information for the project team. Identify improvement opportunities through the use of workflow diagrams, gathering data, performing analyses, and monitoring metrics. Create scorecards to share with leadership and providers to showcase productivity. Participate in initiatives to determine how processes can be aligned with best practices to achieve optimal results, measurable change, and a quantifiable, positive contribution.

Develop financial reports, spreadsheets, and protocols to provide fiscal overview for clinical activity to department leadership. Assist with special projects, presentations, and reporting as requested. Evaluate incremental requests for clinical services and make recommendations based on revenue and cost analyses. Analyze current and historical accounting data and other information to make projections for use in short and long-range financial planning. Participate in quarterly reconciliations and year-end audits. Project future trends and prepares long-range operational forecasts and cash flow analysis. Recommends plans of action for resource allocation.

Implement, design, and provide support for business and administrative analytics within revenue cycle for the department and community anesthesia practice. Develop dashboards and reports with key performance indicators, metrics, data points, and formulas to support management objectives. Assist leaders to investigate and design strategic initiatives in order to improve revenue cycle statistics, reporting capabilities, and overall performance. Determine root cause of revenue cycle problems and variances and suggest modifications to procedures.

Lead projects identified and prioritized by department leadership and delegate tasks to staff and interns when needed. Oversee project management by setting priorities, developing action plans, creating deadlines, assigning responsibility to ensure project completion. Monitor the effectiveness of ongoing projects and recommends and initiates changes that facilitate effective outcomes. Set up procedural protocols to ensure continuity of business operations.

Expected Salary:

$70,000 - $80,000

Minimum Requirements:

Master’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization; or a bachelor’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization and two years of appropriate experience.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Proficient use of computer technology, spreadsheets and data management
  • Analytical problem-solving abilities with people and processes
  • Excel and Tableau experience
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
