The college is pleased to announce an opening for a Dining Services Nutritionist. Reporting to the Director of Dining Services, the position serves as a collaborator with all Dining Services team members, the Williams Student body, and the Health Center.

Complexities of the role will entail examining and planning menus based on national dietary recommendations and current scientific research to provide options for dietary restricted students, food labeling, and coding compliance.

Responsibilities



The nutritionist will perform a variety of duties to support effective labeling, product specification, communication, and menu planning to accommodate dietary and allergen restrictions.

  • Examining menus in the planning stage using Food Service Suite (FSS), reviewing for nutritional integrity
  • Surveying the menus to ensure the availability of options for dietary restricted students (gluten-free, vegan) and ensuring allergen accuracy, sustaining the accuracy of food labels throughout the dining halls
  • Inputting allergen and nutritional coding in FSS for items, researching and /or contacting vendors for information and data entry
  • Inputting new recipes into CBORD system to ensure coding compliance
  • Acts as the departments Front Line Allergy Ambassador
  • Facilitates communication and resource sharing among a wide range of stakeholders (dining unit staff, and managers, department leadership, Health Services students and parents).
  • Maintains detailed records of all allergen discussions, including corrective actions utilizing the DS google share drive
  • Counsels students with food allergies to educate them concerning their nutritional needs and to assist them in acclimating to eating meals in the dining halls
  • Conducts monthly menu info for trainings for staff on balanced nutrition and printing accurate food labels from FSS using the Bartender program
  • Reviews department policies and procedures for food allergies to ensure compliance with Title III of the American Disabilities Act, making recommendations to stakeholders.
  • Writes a monthly column for the Williams Record around the shared goal of student health, nutrition, and physical activity.
  • Implements a dining services newsletter featuring dining events, special services, and nutrition information.


Qualifications

We seek a candidate knowledgeable in menu planning for food service operations and registered through the Commission of Dietetic Registration. The ideal candidate must be trained in allergen awareness; should be able to communicate nutrition information to large groups and to individuals; should demonstrate an understanding of the college’s diversity, equity, and inclusion goals; and should be proficient in computer programs such as FSS/CBORD, BarTender, Excel, and Word; and should have astute attention to detail.

5 years of relevant experience is required. A Bachelor's degree is preferred, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
