Aquinas College is seeking an Assistant Director of Financial Aid. This position is responsible for the professional administration of financial aid for the undergraduate and graduate programs and also serves as office and budget manager.

Responsibilities/Duties/Tasks/Essential Functions:

- Processes both applications and corrections through the electronic data exchange.  Downloads information into the college system, reviewing all files and verifying those selected.
- Verifies and validates all Title IV aid recipients.  Requests tax information, non-taxed income documents, etc. as required by the Federal government.
- Reviews, processes, inputs, mails financial aid packages for new freshman, transfer, and returning students.
- Works with coaches on processing financial aid for prospective and current athletes.
- Calculates professional judgments due to tuition paid for siblings, loss of income/change in job, reduction in child support, etc. and updates the student’s package/financial aid.
- Oversees and reconciles the State of Michigan grant/scholarship program which includes monitoring enrollment, sending current reports to the State so funds arrive in a timely fashion.
- Advises and counsels returning students and parents regarding the financing of education.
- Recruits new students in conjunction with the Admissions office.  This includes appointments in the office with students and parents, presentations to students and parents at our AQ Days and local high school Financial Aid Nights.
- Oversees the Federal Work Study program and monitors monthly reports.
- Stays up to date on Federal/State updates and regulations.
- Maintains the Financial Aid Handbook and the procedures for each position.
- Processes and monitors all necessary applications and reports for students receiving assistance from Vocational Rehabilitation, Social Services, private loans, and scholarships.
- Performs administrative responsibilities of the Financial Aid Office in the absence of the Director.
- Performs other job duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Education Requirements:

- Must have a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
- Must have three years of experience in the Financial Aid field.
- Must exhibit commitment to excellent customer/client service.
- Must demonstrate the ability to respond appropriately and confidently to the demands of the work.
- Must have excellent oral and written communication skills, organizational and analytical skills, and management skills.
- Must demonstrate attention to detail.
- Must be comfortable presenting to large and small groups.
- Must be able to work independently.
- Experience with Datatel Colleague processes is preferred.
- Must be able to work occasional nights and weekends.
