Position Summary:
The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine is hiring for an academic pediatric pathologist.

Principal Duties:
The successful candidate will be appointed as a member of the department at the Assistant/Associate/Professor level (clinical health sciences track) and will have responsibilities in surgical and autopsy pathology. She/he will perform pediatric autopsies including postmortem examination of perinatal cases. Surgical pathology activities will focus on pediatric and perinatal cases, especially placentas and tumors of childhood.
The appointee will work closely with clinical and research groups at the American Family Children's Hospital and the UW Carbone Cancer Center. Ample opportunities exist for collaborative clinical, translational and basic research projects.
The laboratory processes approximately 50,000 surgical pathology cases per year, 3500 of which are from pediatric patients. Approximately 35 pediatric/perinatal autopsies are performed annually. The University of Wisconsin Medical Center is a tertiary care center with comprehensive programs in cancer and transplantation.
Successful candidates will be expected to contribute to the mission of the department via active participation in the research and teaching programs, training of residents, fellows, and medical students, mentoring of trainees and participation in continuing medical education programs.
Salary will be competitive and commensurate with experience.

Degree and Area of Specialization:
M.D., D.O. or M.D./Ph.D. is required with training in Anatomic Pathology and subspecialty fellowship training in pediatric pathology preferred.
Minimum Years and Type of Relevant Work Experience:
Training and experience in pediatric and perinatal pathology and pediatric autopsy pathology is required. Surgical pathology activities will focus on pediatric and perinatal pathology cases. Candidates for Associate Professor and Professor (CHS) rank must meet criteria for appointment at rank per UW School of Medicine and Public Health guidelines for appointment and promotion on the CHS track.
License or Certificate:
Candidates must be board certified or eligible in anatomic pathology or AP/CP, and be qualified for unrestricted licensure for the practice of medicine in Wisconsin.
