Position Summary:
The Moore lab in the Department of Neuroscience is seeking a highly motivated, dedicated, and responsible person who is excited about science to play an integral part in furthering our research in neural stem cell biology. The Research Specialist will perform scientific duties including but not limited to: colony management of mutant mice, PCR genotyping, cell culture, animal dissection, immunostaining, DNA cloning, fluorescence imaging, western blots, and quantitative PCR. Successful applicants should be able to work independently and as part of a team, learn new techniques quickly and easily, and should be able to apply critical thinking to daily tasks.

Degree and Area of Specialization:
Bachelor's degree in neuroscience, cell biology, molecular biology, genetics, biochemistry, physiology or related field is required.
Minimum Years and Type of Relevant Work Experience:
At least 1 year of experience in a biomedical research laboratory and experience with mammalian cell culture, aseptic technique, tissue dissection, mouse colony management, and genotyping required. Experimental skills with basic molecular biology techniques required. Must have strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and be able to work independently as well as in a team. Applicant should have excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills.
