The Bacterial Pathogenesis Laboratory (directed by Aria Eshraghi Ph.D.) within the Department of Infectious Diseases and Immunology at University of Florida is seeking a highly motivated, enthusiastic and curious postdoctoral associate. Research in the Eshraghi Lab is focused on understanding how bacterial pathogens take advantage of the host and how the host responds to pathogens. Currently, we are using intracellular bacterial pathogens belonging to the genus Francisella as models to elucidate the mechanisms driving host-pathogen interactions, and have made significant progress in understanding how a protein secretion system in Francisella drives virulence. For more information about the research program, please see www.EshraghiLab.org .

Postdoctoral associates are expected to develop new research avenues in collaboration with the PI and contribute to existing projects in the lab. The lab is trainee-centered and surrounded by diverse expertise in the department and on the University of Florida campus. The candidate will work with a collaborative interdisciplinary team, an enthusiastic mentor and a supportive department to maximize productivity and success. Co-mentorship opportunities are also available.

Minimum Requirements:

A Ph.D. focused on one of the following broad areas: biochemistry, microbiology, molecular biology, or cell biology.

Preferred Qualifications:

- At least two published or “in preparation” papers
- Technical knowledge of modern research methods, data collection, and analysis.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively within a diverse team.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Highly organized
- Experience with methods in genomics, proteomics, molecular biology, microbiology, cell biology, or biochemistry are preferred, but not required.
