Job Description Summary

The successful candidate in this 9-month, non-tenure track faculty position will assume the following teaching-related responsibilities: 1) instruction of preventive medicine, food safety, and zoonotic diseases to pre-clinical and clinical veterinary professional students; 2) instruction of public health to undergraduate students; and 3) promotion of public health learning options leading to dual DVM - MPH degrees.

Departmental instructional and research programs exist in aquatic pathobiology, molecular virology and bacteriology, molecular diagnostics, food safety, pathogen detection, basic and applied immunology, parasitology, platelet pathophysiology, molecular genetics, metabolic diseases oncology, infectious diseases, embryo-pathogen interactions, epidemiology, poultry pathology and neuropathology. Additional programs exist with opportunities for collaboration within the College of Veterinary Medicine (including basic and clinical sciences), and with faculty from across Auburn University (including the Samuel Ginn College of Engineering, College of Science and Mathematics, Harrison School of Pharmacy, College of Agriculture, School of Forestry and Wildlife Sciences, and Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine), as well as collaboration with other institutions.

Minimum Qualifications

Minimum qualifications include MPH degree (or equivalent) or an advanced degree (i.e. MS, DrPH, or PhD) in a closely related public health or preventive medicine discipline at the time the appointment begins. A DVM (or equivalent veterinary medical professional degree) is preferred, and board certification in veterinary preventive medicine (American College of Veterinary Preventive Medicine) is preferred. The candidate selected for this position must be able to meet eligibility requirements to work in the United States at the time the appointment is scheduled to begin and continue working legally for the proposed term of employment.

Desired Qualifications

Desired qualifications include excellence in didactic classroom or small group instruction, and excellent written and interpersonal communication skills.
