Professorposition for a one-year contract. This position is
scheduled to begin as soon as possible, is a full-time position and
is grant funded.
Situated in theHenrietta Schmoll School of Health, with over
32 health profession programs, the Department of Nursing provides a
fertile ground for teaching and interprofessional practice. The
nursing community at St. Catherine University is vibrant and
dynamic, with a commitment to educate nurses at the bachelor’s,
master’s, and doctoral levels to be excellent and reflective
practitioners, fierce advocates for social justice, and visionary
leaders who will improve the health care system. We are launching a
Certified Nursing Assistant program!TheCNA/Simulation Facultywill facilitate curriculum
development, didactic, skills lab, clinical experiences, and
simulation & skills lab operations. This is a hybrid role that
supports the operations of simulation and skills lab activities,
contributing to the achievement of student learning and program
outcomes.
Responsibilities:
- Infuse theCNAprogram with the mission
and vision of St. Catherine University and the Department of
Nursing
- Collaborate with faculty and leaders throughout the school to
accomplish program development and department goals and to
implement interprofessional simulation activities
- Design, teach and evaluate course curricula and learning
experiences to promote student learning through online, hybrid and
in-person delivery of course content
- Setup and assist in facilitating simulated and skills lab
learning environments through using and operating technology,
mannequins, and patient acting to optimize learning
outcomes
- Teach the equivalent of eight courses during the academic year
to a diverse student population
- Advise and communicate respectfully and build relationships of
trust with students of all cultures, ages and abilities
- Foster a culture of inclusive excellence through authentic
relationships with students as an educator, an advisor, and a
mentor
- Model socialization toCNAroles,
provide information for simulation activities, and refer students
to appropriate resources and services that promote their success
and learning in simulated learning environments
- Engage in scholarship activity (e.g. research, grant writing)
that develops expertise and that supports and sustains simulation
and skills lab learning
- Ensure that program meets all professional and compliance
documentation
- Monitors and analyzes assessment and evaluative data to improve activities and promote student learning
Minimum qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Nursing or enrollment in a Master’s level
nursing program
- Eligibility for, or licensed and unencumbered registered nurse
in the state of Minnesota
- Two years of experience as a licensed nurse or licensed
practical nurse
- Two years of experience teaching peers and/or as a preceptor
serving a diverse array of colleagues
- One year of experience providing long term care services to clients from a variety of cultural perspectives
Preferred qualifications:
- Teaching experience in nursing education or staff
development
- Experience teaching, advising and mentoring a diverse student
body
- Experience teaching in online, hybrid and in-person
formats
- Experience using course management system platforms, Microsoft
office and Google suite, and other technology
- Certified as aCNATrain the Trainer
and Basic Life Support (BLS)
Instructor
- Experience in simulation, skills lab, and instructional
technology
