The Faculty of Arts and Humanities

The University of Macau is committed to the development of academic disciplines in Arts and Humanities. With about 1,300 students, the Faculty offers high-quality undergraduate and post-graduate (MA and PhD) programmes in Language and Literature (Chinese, English, Portuguese and Japanese), History, Philosophy and Religion Studies. It is also an important contributor to the University-wide programmes in General Education, bringing essential elements of a holistic education to a wider university audience. Over 110 academic staff from diverse international backgrounds teach in the Faculty of Arts and Humanities, they not only bring academic knowledge and expertise to the classroom, but also experience of the practice and study of the Arts and Humanities. The Dean of Faculty of Arts and Humanities

The successful candidate should have considerable experience in faculty management, academic strategic planning, curriculum design, laboratory setup and research development, and must be highly committed to the pursuit of excellence in teaching, research and service.

 

In particular, the candidate should have the following credentials:

  1. A PhD degree in a related discipline;
  2. Full Professor or above, with a distinguished record of internationally-recognized research and scholarship;
  3. Evidence of outstanding academic leadership, demonstrated commitment to leading research and a record of effective teaching in higher education sectors;
  4. Demonstrable competence in management and communication;
  5. Proficiency in English is required as it is the working language, while knowledge in Chinese/Portuguese will be an advantage.

 

Remuneration

A taxable annual remuneration starting from MOP1,374,100 (approximately USD169,640) will be commensurate with the successful applicants’ academic qualification and relevant professional experience. The current local maximum income tax rate is 12% but is effectively around 5% - 7% after various discretionary exemptions.
