The School Counseling program at the University of Wisconsin-Stout, seeks an Assistant Professor or Associate Professor to join our team. This position is a full-time, nine-month, tenure-track appointment, with opportunities for summer teaching. Housed in the department of Education and Pupil Services, our collaborative faculty serves graduate students in School Counseling (K-12), Clinical Mental Health Counseling, and School Psychology programs, and faculty are encouraged to engage in cross-disciplinary collaboration. Educational resources within the department include clinical counseling, play therapy career resource labs.  Candidates will demonstrate a commitment to the field of school counseling as well as counselor education through teaching graduate courses in an experience-centered environment, supervising students, as well as scholarly activity, curriculum development, and service to the university and community.  Professional affiliations (e.g., WSCA, ASCA, ACES, ACA) are encouraged and anticipated. Courses taught may include, but are not limited to: Ethical, Legal & Professional Issues in School Counseling, PK-12 Classroom Curriculum, Group Dynamics, Lifespan Career Development, and School Counseling Practicum and Internship seminar and supervision. Candidates are required to have, or be eligible for, relevant counseling credentials (e.g., school counselor licensure, LPC, NCC). Candidates should also demonstrate and promote a commitment to social justice and respect for diverse cultures, backgrounds, and identities.   

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum / Required

  • Earned doctorate in Counselor Education or related field with an emphasis in School Counseling;

consideration will be given to candidates who are ABD, although doctorate must be completed within one year of the contract start date

  • Eligible for Wisconsin School Counseling License within one year of date of appointment  

Highly Desired

  • Doctorate in Counselor Education with an emphasis in School Counseling from a CACREP-accredited Program.
  • School Counselor experience with PK-12, post internship
  • Evidence of exemplary post-secondary teaching and leadership experience
  • Evidence of successful research involvement  

JOB DETAILS

The successful applicant will join a group of committed and vibrant faculty who deliver cutting-edge learning opportunities to a diverse student body. They will teach core courses in counselor education, through a rigorous academic curriculum that includes experiential and self-reflective learning. The candidate is expected to focus on teaching and supervision while maintaining an active research agenda that engages graduate students. The candidate will also participate in service activities and embrace the principles of diversity and inclusion as a member of the university community. Salary is commensurate with academic preparation and experience. 


The anticipated start date for this position is August 23, 2021.
