Position Summary:

The Wisconsin Crop Innovation Center (WCIC) building is a 100,000 square foot agricultural biotechnology/greenhouse complex. The building houses state-of-the-art transgenic plant laboratories and greenhouses which support unprecedented scientific advancement opportunities and improves plants for humans, livestock, and the environment. The center has a high throughput transformation pipeline and molecular department capable of generating and testing transgenic and edited plants. The Center is in need of a molecular biologist for a wide variety of tasks associated with the Molecular Technologies Department. The candidate selected for this role will focus on plasmid cloning and preparation, PCR analysis, gel electrophoresis, plant DNA/RNA extraction, copy number analysis, and other molecular biology duties. The Center uses state of the art molecular processes and equipment and we are looking for a candidate with a background in molecular biology that can work well in a team oriented and exciting field.

Degree and Area of Specialization:

BS in Molecular Biology or another related field.

Minimum Years and Type of Relevant Work Experience:

-Experience working in a molecular lab setting or related experience is required.
-Knowledge of Golden Gate cloning, DNA/RNA extractions, PCR, ddPCR, media preparation, and biolistic transformation methods are preferred.
-Prior molecular cloning, PCR, and nucleic acid experience is highly desired.
-Ability to follow procedures and protocols
-Knowledge in chemistry, HPLC, and/or media formulations is desired

Additional Information:

Standard hours will be Monday through Friday, 8:00am - 5:00pm.
A period of evaluation will be required. A criminal background check will be required.
