Licensed Staff Counselor with Multicultural Focus
The Department of Human Resource's Faculty and Staff Assistance Program (FSAP) encourages applications for a Licensed Staff Counselor with Multicultural Focus to join our outstanding team! This Counselor, with a focus on identifying and supporting underserved and historically marginalized employees at the University, will meet the psychological needs and well-being of university employees by providing culturally relevant counseling, advising, and educational workshops.
It is important that this position recognizes the effects that discrimination, prejudice, and systemic oppression have on marginalized individuals, and how these negative biases may lead to psychological trauma and stress.

What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be
- Provide culturally responsive mental health services and outreach to CUB individuals, couples, and families primarily within a brief therapy framework.
- Provide crisis intervention, including but not limited to suicide assessment.
- Identify, outreach, and develop relationships and programming for ethnic and racial populations with historically underutilized mental health counseling.
- Support and train multiculturalism to FSAP staff while ensuring issues of DEI are considered in the services offered. Host workshops as a mental health resource for diversity and inclusion.
- Liaise with the Office of Diversity, Equity, and Community Engagement (ODECE) and support the development and launch of a culturally-humble campaign to de-stigmatize mental health throughout campus, particularly with our frontline service employees.
- Present at the Diversity and Inclusion Summit.
- Collect, analyze, and present relevant statistics regularly with guidance from the FSAP Director.
Supervision and Administration
- Participate in weekly staff meetings and case consultations with other team members and attend regular supervision with the clinical supervisor.
- Utilize the Electronic Health Record System to maintain accurate and timely documentation and to record client interventions and statistics through case notes and intake documents.
- Provide support to FSAP master's level counseling interns.
Professional Development and Personal Growth
- Connect with local and national professional multicultural counseling journals and publications. Join diversity action committees as appropriate.
- Attend multicultural counseling conferences, submitting presentations where possible, and engage in the self-work needed to uncover and dismantle personal biases.
What We Can Offer
The salary range for this position is $55,000 to $65,000.

What We Require
- Master's Degree in Clinical Psychology, Social Work, Counseling or a related field from an accredited program.
- Clinically licensed in (Psychologist, LPC, LCSW, LMFT, or related) or the ability to acquire or transfer license to the State of Colorado within twelve months of the date of hire.
- At least two years of direct clinical experience.
- Experience providing clinical services for individuals from multicultural backgrounds/historically marginalized populations in mental health, including Black/African American, Asian American, Latinx/Hispanic, Native Americans, and many others.
- Experience conducting diversity and inclusion programming.

What We Would Like You To Have
- Experience electronic record-keeping and documentation.
- Experience working with a range of clinical issues ranging across the spectrum of human experiences.
- A minimum of two years' post-license experience providing direct clinical services.
- Consultation and outreach experience or specific training and/or demonstrated experience with racial and ethnic populations who have historically underutilized counseling.
- Experience in counseling within an employee assistance program.
- Experience working in a university or college setting.
- Public speaking experience.
