The Setnor School of Music at Syracuse University invites applications for a full-time non-tenure-track Assistant Teaching Professor of Sound Recording Technology, a three-year appointment beginning August 15, 2021 and renewable based on exemplary performance and University need.

Qualifications

Candidate must have a Master’s degree in a related STEAM field, 5-10 years of significant professional experience in the music production industry, documented successful collegiate teaching experience, component level expertise with audio production hardware and software, and active engagement in appropriate professional organizations. Experience in commercial composition and/or songwriting a plus.

Job Specific Qualifications

An established music performance background, expertise in professional audio equipment and systems design, technical engineering skills, and ability to provide sound production instruction in a multitude of applications and musical genres.

Responsibilities

Candidate will teach courses in studio recording, live sound, location recording, technical engineering, digital audio workstation production, recording studio acoustics and participate in internship supervision. Other course assignments dependent upon areas of expertise.

We seek candidates who show evidence of a strong academic background and professional activity in music production and related fields.

A successful candidate will teach undergraduate and graduate students, establish a research agenda and record of publication/creative activity, mentor students, participate in recruiting, and engage in service.

In addition, the candidate must possess strong musical, written, verbal, and interpersonal skills, and the ability to work collaboratively and interface with a community of diverse students and colleagues.

Physical Requirements
