The Office of Retention and Student Success within the division of Enrollment and Student Experience at Syracuse University is seeking to hire a Program Manager. The Program Manager provides supports and leadership across all aspects of the SummerStart and SSUI programs effective immediately.

This position provides leadership and support for all programming, operations, some evening/weekend/on-call responsibilities during the summer. Accordingly, vacation and other leave time is generally not authorized during or immediately preceding summer.

Qualifications

Master’s degree in higher education or a field related to student experience is required.

Minimum of 3 years’ experience in higher education administration is also preferred.

Academic advising experience preferred.

Job Specific Qualifications

Experience with marketing and recruitment, admissions, student experience, and event planning is strongly preferred.

Experience with faculty and academic affairs is desirable.

Must have exceptional customer service skills, have a high level of attention to detail and organizational skills, and have excellent communication skills.

Valid driver’s license required.

Responsibilities

Assist the Interim Executive Director of Student Success in working with Enrollment and Student Experience and auxiliary service departments for the planning, development, and delivery of all operational and programmatic functions.

Assist with internal and external marketing, recruitment, and communications. In collaboration with the ESE marketing division, supervise and manage marketing efforts, including e-blasts, websites, social media accounts, campus events, and all other recruitment initiatives for the program.

Prepare for and manage all residential needs for both SSUI and Summer Start in collaboration with the Office of Student Living and Conference Services.

Coordinate with:
• Schools and Colleges, including UC on selection of courses for students.
• Financial Aid to ensure applicable financial aid options for both SSUI and Summer Start program students.
• With Writing Program to hire coordinators and consultants for WRT 104 & WRT 105 for the Summer Start program.
• Math Department to coordinate the hiring of coordinators and consultants for Summer Start program.
• HEOP and SSSP to hire coordinators and instructors for Summer Start CAS 102.
• Athletics Department regarding schedule for the student athletes
• Assist in building external relationships as appropriate for program and departmental needs.
• Coordinate with Kessler programs (first generation students)

Coordinate two orientation events for Summer Start program:
• Coordinate and facilitate Summer Start Staff orientation through collaboration with OSL, Writing, Math, HEOP and SSS, other campus offices as needed.
• Coordinate/facilitate Summer Start student orientation through collaboration with HEOP and SSS, OSL, (Athletics) other campus offices as needed.
• Manage all aspects of event planning for Summer Start program including College/Schools dinners, field trips, and banquet.
• Continue outreach to all the students during the subsequent fall semester after the Summer Start program ends in August; unlike in the past to support them through their first semester. (4 x semester)
• Monitor/follow up all Early Alerts raised by instructors in the Orange SUccess system.
• Work with Analytics to provide proactive support for these students during the fall semester.
