The Assistant Director oversees the administration of 20-30 scholarship programs both internally and externally to the University. In addition, this person supervises 4 service providers, manages the T-Metrics phone system, Orange Success appointment system for counselors, advises students and parents on all phases of the financial aid process and participates in both on and off campus financial aid presentations.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent required, 3+ years in financial aid with supervisory experience a plus.

Job Specific Qualifications

Knowledge of federal and state financial aid regulations as well as excellent customer service and communication skills, both written and verbal.

Knowledge of federal verification, CSS Profile applications, PeopleSoft and supervisory experience a plus.

Ability to handle multiple projects and assignments at the same time with attention to detail.

Strong communication skills, both written and oral and ability to build relationships internally as well as with external organizations and across campus.

Commitment to excellent customer service.

Responsibilities

Supervise staff of four service providers, coordinate T-Metrics phone system, Orange Success appointment reports, provide training and guidance to staff as well as conducting performance evaluations.

Counsel students and parents on financial aid processes and scholarship options to help align available resources with their educational goals. Perform federal and institutional verification, address student appeals and perform professional judgments when appropriate.

Liaison with multiple offices across campus to provide staff training and student program presentations. Work closely with other offices to assist with student selection for various awards. Provide interoffice staff training on areas of expertise; communications, PS panels, customer service, etc.
