Position Summary

Seeking a skilled software Developer Manager to join our team in the Behavioral Medicine Lab at the University at Buffalo. You will be supervised by Dr. Leonard Epstein, chief of the Division of Behavioral Medicine, UB Department of Pediatrics. Dr. Epstein’s research interests focus on health behavior change and determinants of eating, physical activity and drug self-administration. Dr. Epstein is an internationally recognized authority in the fields of childhood overweight, physical activity, weight control and family intervention. For the past 35 years, Dr. Epstein has conducted research relevant to the prevention and treatment of childhood obesity, including mechanisms that regulate intake and energy expenditure in children.

In this position you will be:

  • Implementing the entire software development lifecycle.
  • Overseeing the development team.
  • Maintaining Windows servers, network security, and infrastructure.
  • Coordinating and facilitating meetings with technical and non-technical teams.
  • Hiring and training new developers and interns.
  • Communicating with the university’s IT departments.
  • Documenting specifications, preparing project materials, assisting in database administration, and supporting research efforts.

Minimum Qualifications

• BA or BS in related field
• Two (2) years of management, research, and/or software development experience
• Experience in leading agile project team
• Establish development standards for the team
• Strong communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills
• Deliver reports and proposals to upper management
• Skill with HTML, CSS, JavaScript, SQL, PHP
• Familiar in React, Express, Electron, Drupal CMS

Preferred Qualifications

• Skill with C#, SQL, Node.js, Java
• Familiar in ASP . NET, Bootstrap, WordPress
• Experience building interactive web applications, database design, and UI/UX design
• Ability to work well autonomously and as a team member
• Create plan and timeline for development project
