Position Summary:
The Health Services Administration program at Eastern Kentucky University seeks to fill a 9-month tenure-track faculty position to begin in August 2021. The Health Services Administration Program offers concentrations in Health Care Management (HCM) and Health Informatics and Information Management (HIIM). The HIIM concentration is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Health Informatics and Information Management Education (CAHIIM).

Responsibilities may include teaching assigned courses and internships in the Health Services Administration program. Courses may be delivered in a traditional on-campus or an online format. As it pertains to instruction, the candidate will develop syllabi, projects, lectures, tests, and assessment instruments; instruct a diverse student population by integrating multiple strategies of instruction and interaction; and expand knowledge and competencies in the fields of health care management and health informatics and information management and the learning process.

The candidates will also serve as a student academic advisor; actively engage in service to the program and department through participation on select committees, projects, or assignments; engage in university, community, and professional service activities; work collaboratively with other faculty and staff in fostering a community of learning and growth; engage in research and other scholarly activities; and carry out other duties as determined by the Chair.


Minimum Qualifications:
Masters in Health Information & Informatics, Health Services, Healthcare Administration, Public Health, Business Administration, or a related field from a regionally accredited institution is required. Candidate must hold an AHIMA (American Health Information Management Association) credential. Candidates with RHIA or RHIT preferred.


Desired Qualifications:
The successful candidates will possess effective written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills and have experience with computer application for instructional purposes. The successful candidate will also have the ability to work effectively with teams and individuals of various ethnic, cultural, and socioeconomic backgrounds. The search committee is especially interested in candidates who, through their teaching, service, and/or research, will contribute to the diversity and excellence of the academic community.
