The UAB Center for Exercise Medicine (UCEM), a university-wide research center at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, invites applications from individuals with expertise in the conduct of center-based, supervised clinical trials involving physical exercise for the faculty position of Associate Director and Co-Leader for Clinical Research and Administration Core.

 

The Associate Director will work closely with the UCEM Director and leadership team in developing and administering strategy for the Center. Individual will also serve as Co-Leader of the Clinical Research and Administration Core to contribute to the oversight and leadership of the UCEM Exercise Clinical Trials Facility, a 6000 sq ft. core facility for the conduct of exercise-based clinical trials.

 

Applicants should have an established track record in exercise-based research with particular emphasis on the conduct of clinical research in this area. The successful applicant should also have a research portfolio that focuses on the conduct of supervised exercise clinical trials with ongoing NIH R01-level research funding or strong evidence of potential to secure such funding in this area. Applicant should also embrace working in a team-based research environment.

 

For this position, UCEM is partnering with the Department of Family and Community Medicine, Division of Sports and Exercise Medicine, and the Department of Orthopedic Surgery.  The successful candidate will have a faculty appointment in one of these departments or jointly.  Each department has a growing research program with established research interests related to exercise and sports medicine.

 

Consideration will be given to individuals with a doctorate (PhD or MD/DO) in fields related to exercise medicine and physical activity promotion.  Position is a twelve-month, open rank, open tenure faculty position.  Salary, rank, and tenure commensurate with experience and qualifications.
