The Department of Public Administration at Louisiana State University (LSU) invites applications for a tenure-track position at either the assistant or associate professor level, to begin in August 2021. The successful applicant will have a strong commitment to research and teaching, with an active research agenda and an ability to teach core and elective courses (in-person and online) in public administration and public management (e.g., Public Human Resource Management, Public Administration Theory and Practice, Organizational Analysis).

 

LSU is Louisiana’s flagship university, and its main campus is located in Baton Rouge, the state capital. The Department of Public Administration offers a NASPAA accredited Master of Public Administration degree and strives to prepare talented and diverse MPA students to lead public, nonprofit, and private sector organizations. The department is deeply committed to fostering diversity, equity, and inclusion at the community, student, and faculty levels.

The faculty teaching load is two courses per semester (four courses per year) and involves teaching in-person and online. Research expectations are in line with the demands of a flagship university and peer institutions. Salary, benefits, start-up equipment (hardware and software), and summer research assistance will be competitive.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Assistant Professor:
    • Ph.D. in Public Administration or a closely related field (e.g., public policy, public affairs, political science) by August 2021. ABD candidates will be considered
    • Specific experience: A strong commitment to teaching and student engagement, and an established and/or promising research agenda.
  • Associate Professor:
    • Ph.D. in Public Administration or a closely related field (e.g., public policy, public affairs, political science) by August 2021. 
    • Years of experience: 5 years
    • Specific experience: A strong commitment to teaching and student engagement, and an established and/or promising research agenda.
