Assistant Vice President of Financial Aid & Scholarships
Baylor University, which actively lives out its mission of educating men and women for worldwide leadership and service, seeks an experienced, strategic and collaborative leader to serve as its inaugural Assistant Vice President of Financial Aid and Scholarships (AVP).
The AVP will report to Jennifer Carron, associate vice president for enrollment management, and serve as a senior member of a strong enrollment leadership team, helping to facilitate the achievement of key strategic outcomes. In addition to participating in the ongoing creation and implementation of a strategic vision for enrollment, the AVP will be responsible for providing leadership for the comprehensive and strategic administration of the Office of Student Financial Aid. The AVP will support the goals of strategic innovation through a lens that recognizes limiting regulatory facts while imagining what is possible.
The successful candidate will be a mission-focused strategic thinker and a skilled relationship manager who develops connections with faculty, deans, administrative staff, university leadership, and current students. The AVP oversees an office consisting of 33 staff and is responsible for day-to-day operations as well as collaborating on strategy. The person in this role will possess a strategic understanding of the integral role of student financial aid in supporting student enrollment, student success, and student services; and will have knowledge of financial aid trends as they relate to the use and delivery of student financial aid.
The AVP will operate in a complex, fast-paced environment; demonstrate skills in leading and developing a large professional staff; have excellent communication skills, a thorough knowledge of financial aid policies, processes and regulations; and have experience with the application of current and emerging technologies in the financial aid process. This person will have a deep understanding of the financial aid landscape and its ongoing changes, and an ability to develop forward-facing strategies in response.
