Under general supervision will aid in conducting various research projects and will assist with the development of research questions, data collection as needed, data analysis, and writing and presenting research findings. Also be expected to attend weekly staff and research team meetings. The selected candidate will serve as a representative of Center for Justice Research ( CJR ) and carry out the research agenda established by CJR and its partners.

This is a Grant Funded position.

Essential Duties Summary

• Conducts and synthesize research on criminal justice policies and practices.
• Analyzes performance measures and other justice data. Communicate research and analytical findings to a variety of audiences both orally and in writing.
• Presents research to academics, practitioners, and general audiences and have prior work featured and popular culture and top-tier scholarly outlets.
• Develops methods for problem solving, process change, and solutions implementation that ensure enterprise–wide integration. Identify best practices, assess performance measurement, and research, collect, and verify data and translate it into strategic and operational guidance.
• Guides and assists clients with a wide range of management, organizational, and business improvement and modernization initiatives by applying continuous process improvement strategies, methodologies, and principles.
• Provides group facilitation, interviewing, training, and other forms of knowledge transfer.
• Leads a team that will design and develop logic models, performance measures, and criminal justice data collection programs.
• Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Hiring Range $20.181155 - $25.2261 Education

Master’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university in administrative/criminal justice, social science, or related field. A Ph.D in criminal justice, social science, or a related field is preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Knowledge of:
• Policies, procedures, and practices.
• Experience with federal, state and local requirements for the measurement of criminal justice program effectiveness.
• Requires knowledge in computer software statistical packages such as SPSS, Stata, SAS, R, and/or HLM .
• Must have a working knowledge of criminal justice programs.
• Requires experience working with criminal justice agencies and research-practice partnerships.
• Microsoft Office Professional or similar application.

Skill in:
• Detail oriented.
• Both verbal and written communication.

Ability to:
• Managing data and conducting quantitative and qualitative analyses, such as multilevel and capsuling, and quasi-experimental methods.

Work Experience

Requires a minimum of 1 to 3 years of experience with criminal justice research, criminal justice quantitative analysis, project management, and criminal justice assessment and performance measures.

Past experience as a Research Assistant or a Project Assistant is preferred.

Working/Environmental Conditions

Routine office environment.
Sitting or standing in one location much of the time.
Some stooping, lifting or carrying objects light weight may be required.
Use of video display terminal.
