This is a part-time, non-benefits eligible position that works as needed. The Phlebotomist/Medical Assistant is expected to provide professional collection services to Bowdoin College students. This individual will facilitate collection and processing of clinical laboratory specimens, accurately coordinate laboratory services, and provide technical and clerical support while ensuring efficient operations and promoting positive staff and patient relations.

Our spacious suite is located in the Peter Buck building on the third floor, includes 6 exam rooms, a medication dispensary, and a lab. We offer point of care testing, phlebotomy, immunizations as well as many other routine office procedures.
This is an opportunity to work with a diverse student body assisting them with acute and some chronic health concerns. We work closely with athletics, counseling and other community partners to enhance the student medical experience.
We pride ourselves on providing a safe and confidential space to provide care as well as a friendly welcoming environment.
The MA responsibilities will include rooming students, phlebotomy, administrative work and vaccinations. We can help you enhance your skills while you train with us.

Education/Skills Requirements

A high school degree or GED equivalent is required; an associate’s degree from an accredited Medical Assistant’s training program or a degree from an accredited Licensed Nurse training program is preferred.

Applicants must possess excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills, and the ability to interact with a wide spectrum of students. Proficiency with computers and the ability and willingness to learn specialized software for electronic medical records is necessary.

Experience Requirements and/or Equivalents

Experience with ER, acute care or adolescents preferred.

Standard Work Days and Hours

Mondays and Fridays, additional days and hours as needed.
