Job Description
Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University’s Prescott, Arizona campus is hiring an experienced Grounds Maintenance Keeper to support the Facilities Management Team. Embry-Riddle's Prescott Campus is respected worldwide for cutting-edge instruction and training for tomorrow’s aviation, aerospace, security and intelligence leaders. Prescott is a mile-high city and its climate reflects seasonable weather excellent for flying. Daytime averages are 80°F in the summer and 45°F in the winter. At 5,000 ft. above sea level, it boasts a mild climate, clean air, pristine wilderness areas, and nearby national forests. The university is a small, private, residential university in the mountains of Arizona with approximately 3,500 students. Staff/faculty/student interaction is highly valued and is a central theme of our campus. It is located 100 miles north of Phoenix and 120 miles south of the Grand Canyon.

The Grounds Maintenance Keeper supports Facilities Management Department by performing grounds and landscape maintenance, renovations of landscape, irrigation systems and hardscape, turf management, irrigation installations and repairs to existing irrigation, clearing and maintaining drainage systems, roads & parking lots, fencing, picking up litter and debris, planting, cultivating, irrigating and pruning a variety of types of trees, shrubs, ground cover, flowers and grasses.
Includes the use and proper operation of electrically-powered and gasoline-powered grounds keeping equipment and machines, and the use of small hand and power tools or equipment. Holding or being able to acquire State of Arizona Applicator License for applying herbicides is required.

Herbicide Applicator’s License (or the ability to obtain such
license within the first 90 days of employment.
- At least three years of commercial grounds maintenance and
landscaping experience.
- Valid Arizona Driver’s License and clean MVD driving record
upon employment.
- At least two years of licensed experience driving manual shift
type vehicles and equipment.
- Ability to operate campus vehicles, equipment, machinery,
trucks, tractors and mowers in a safe, responsible manner.
- Hold State of AZ license or the ability to pass the state
required spray license examination within 90 days of
employment.
- Ability to read labels and directions for combining
mixtures.
- Ability to calculate mixtures using mathematics.
- Ability to write for managing daily work orders and recording
data related to herbicide application.
- Knowledge of fertilizers, insecticides and herbicides used in
grounds care and gardening. Must be able to regularly life greater
than 25 lbs.
- Minimum 3-5 years of related work experience
