Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University’s Prescott, Arizona campus is hiring an experienced Irrigation Technician to support the Facilities Management Team. Embry-Riddle's Prescott Campus is respected worldwide for cutting-edge instruction and training for tomorrow’s aviation, aerospace, security and intelligence leaders. Prescott is a mile-high city and its climate reflects seasonable weather excellent for flying. Daytime averages are 80°F in the summer and 45°F in the winter. At 5,000 ft. above sea level, it boasts a mild climate, clean air, pristine wilderness areas, and nearby national forests. The university is a small, private, residential university in the mountains of Arizona with approximately 3,500 students. Staff/faculty/student interaction is highly valued and is a central theme of our campus. It is located 100 miles north of Phoenix and 120 miles south of the Grand Canyon.

Description:
Tuesday - Saturday; 0700-1530
- Manages the irrigation systems on campus to insure proper
watering of turf, trees, bushes, and all other plantings. Installs,
troubleshoots, repairs and renovates irrigation systems. Performs
other grounds maintenance tasks as assigned.
- Responds to assigned work orders in a timely manner, ensures
job is completed to the campus standard and closes the work order
out through the handheld tablet linked to the CMMS system.
- Performs irrigation system task including, but not limited
to:
- Sets and programs all irrigation controllers.
- Troubleshoots computerized electronic systems, irrigation
controllers, solenoid valves, and heads of all types.
- Initiates corrective action to secure satisfactory standards
and timely project completion.
- Repairs and inspects lines, valves, and sprinklers on
irrigation systems, installs new drip and sprinkler systems;
removes old systems and recovers reusable equipment.
- Operates tractors and trenchers to install system
components.
- Performs other duties as required for Grounds department,
including driving University vehicles to perform duties and
responsibilities.
- Other duties as assigned to meet the facilities’ management
objectives including campus “Special Events” support and snow
removal activities.

- High school diploma or equivalent
- 2 years - experience with stand-alone irrigation systems.
- 2 years - experience with athletic field turf management and
maintenance practices.
- 2 years - experience with general landscape and hardscape
maintenance.
- Arizona Driver’s License and clean MVD driving record and the
ability to operate campus vehicles and equipment in a safe,
responsible manner.
- Ability to use computer tablet to input work order service
details in to the CMMS system.
- Must be able to lift heavy objects.
