The Department of Communication seeks applicants for a tenure track Assistant Professor position in public and media relations, beginning in Fall 2021. The successful candidate will teach public relations courses and provide other service such as advising the PRSSA chapter. Courses may include Introduction to Public Relations, Public Relations Writing, Public Relations Case Studies, Public Relations Campaigns and/or Digital and Social Media in Public Relations. A Ph.D. in Communication, Journalism, Media, or a related field is required for the Assistant Professor position. ABD will be considered. Teaching experience, professional public/media relations experience, strategic communication, and expertise in new technologies are desired.

While open to candidates representing the broad spectrum of public and media relations, the committee will give special consideration to candidates with demonstrated capabilities in the application of digital communication, social media and/or data analytics. Developing an internship program and teaching in Pacific’s first year seminar program are required. Applicant also should be able to teach introductory courses in Communication.

This is a nine-month contract, and faculty rank and title are contingent upon the selected candidate’s qualifications and experience.

Tenure-track faculty members engage in teaching; scholarly and artistic endeavors, and provide professional and university service in accordance to their school bylaws and university policy. Faculty are entrusted to provide an educational environment that is conducive to enhanced learning outcomes. Faculty must comply with university workload policy per designation.
