General Summary/Purpose

Coordinate clinical research activities, including data management, maintaining IRB documents and carrying out day to day activities of clinical research projects at the Johns Hopkins University Greenberg Center for Skeletal Dysplasia. Monitor progress of research protocols and collection of research data on patients entered into research protocols.

Specific Duties & Responsibilities

Work closely with the principal investigator to ensure smooth and efficient execution of research protocol. Assist with coordinating patient's research visits (i.e., meeting and transporting patients), consent research participants, collect and record research data, control data quality, and maintain research integrity. Responsible for the organization, entry, maintenance, and accuracy of all patient clinical research data in a timely and ongoing manner. Enter data into standardized computer programs including specially designed web-based programs as well as Excel and Access databases. Maintain good working knowledge of all assigned protocols, maintain regulatory binder for each assigned protocol, verify patient eligibility for studies, and meet regularly with principal investigators and supervisor of studies for review data accuracy and overall progress. Assist in coordinating serious adverse event reporting with clinicians and investigators to insure prompt reporting to JHM IRBs and study sponsor. Complete all required JHMIRB submissions including annual renewals, informed consent changes, and protocol amendments. Perform other clinical research activities as needed.

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma / GED with some related experience.

Additional education may substitute for required experience, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in related discipline.

Special Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Ability to work in MS Excel, MS Access, and MS Word. Attention to detail.

Ability to work independently.

The pre-employment physical for positions in clinical areas, laboratories, working with research subjects, or involving community contact requires documentation of immune status against Rubella (German measles), Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Varicella (chickenpox), Hepatitis B and documentation of having received the Tdap (Tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis) vaccination. This may include documentation of having two (2) MMR vaccines; two (2) Varicella vaccines; or antibody status to these diseases from laboratory testing. Blood tests for immunities to these diseases are ordinarily included in the pre-employment physical exam except for those employees who provide results of blood tests or immunization documentation from their own health care providers. Any vaccinations required for these diseases will be given at no cost in our Occupational Health office.
