Job Summary
Johnson County Community College is looking to fill a full-time faculty position in Sociology. JCCC is located in Overland Park, KS, the second largest city in the state of Kansas and part of the greater Kansas City Metro. JCCC is similarly dedicated to creating and maintaining a rich cultural community, with an award-winning contemporary art museum and center for the performing arts located on campus.
This person will perform duties expected of full-time faculty, including maintaining scheduled office hours, developing and revising curriculum, developing and implementing course and program assessment of student learning outcomes, participating in department, division, and college meetings, serving on committees, and other duties as assigned.
Current department needs include teaching courses in Introduction to Sociology, Social Problems, and Sociology of Families.
Required Qualifications
-Masters degree in Sociology or closely-related field
-Expertise in social stratification (e.g., inequality and diversity, race, class, gender)
-Experience with curriculum planning, preferably at a community college
-Collegiate teaching experience
Preferred Qualifications
-Doctoral degree (PhD or equivalent) in Sociology or closely-related field
-Community college teaching experience
