Visiting Assistant Professor, Department of Chemistry

Position Details

Wesleyan University’s Department of Chemistry invites applications for a full-time Visiting Assistant Professor of Chemistry beginning Jan 4, 2021 or as soon as possible thereafter. The visitor will be the administrator for the sophomore-level organic laboratory (CHEM258) and will be expected to teach three of the on-campus hybrid sections and one fully remote section. In addition to providing pre-lab instruction, the visitor will have responsibility for finalizing the curriculum, supervising teaching assistants, and managing the laboratory preparation with the assistance of departmental staff.

Previous experience in teaching comparable laboratory courses and expertise with a variety of standard laboratory instrumentation, while not required, is preferred. The initial appointment will be for the spring semester, with the possibility of renewal for subsequent academic years.

Minimum Qualifications

Candidates must have a Ph.D. in Chemistry or related field in hand by the time of appointment to be hired as an Assistant Professor; a successful candidate may be hired as an Instructor if the candidate does not have a Ph.D. in hand at the time of appointment.
